Coventry City of Culture 2021
AHI has been working since 2019 with Coventry City of Culture to connect and strengthen the brilliant local sector. Our work has included:
- Mapping and understanding the Coventry arts and homelessness sector which resulted in the Coventry Arts and Homelessness Review 2020
- Providing support for local organisations and artists including co-creation and mentoring
- Helping to co-create the biggest arts programme in any COVID hotel for homeless people in partnership with Crisis and Coventry City Council
- Working with Coventry City Council to deepen co-creation of policy and co-creating a new Rough Sleeping Strategy with homeless people and council staff using Legislative Theatre (we continue to run a scrutiny group to oversee this)
- Helping to connect the sector by setting up a co-created Arts and Homelessness Forum
- Helping to co-create the Home Festival of Arts and Homelessness which included 30 events including exhibitions, open mics, workshops, a flash-mob, a Cardboard Citizens show, a mural and more. The whole programme was designed and delivered by people who are/have been homeless
- During the Home Festival we co-created the 2nd International Arts and Homelessness Summit.
- Warwick University produced an independent academic research project about the Home Festival
