What is the Hive of Hubs?
Power and resources are not equally distributed around the world and the same is true for the arts and homelessness sector. There is more funding and more opportunities in the Global North – while at the same time, many of the most innovative projects and methodologies are in the Global South.
We have been working with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Stavros Niarchos Foundation and British Council to try to redress this balance by creating a more equal ‘hive’ of ‘hubs’ of knowledge exchange around the world instead of a ‘top down’ UK-led network.
The programme includes the following phases:
- Phase 1 – mapping arts and homelessness in the global south (see our 2021 report in this section)
- Phase 2 – investing in projects and capacity building to increase collaboration between projects and groups and create 5 ‘hubs’ of learning in different areas of the Global South (2022-23)
- Phase 3 – sustaining these hubs (2023 onwards)
