The Big Give 2023
One donation, twice the impact – get your donation doubled for free!
Tuesday 28 November – midday Tuesday 5 December. Visit here to donate during that time.
We’re delighted to be taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge this year for the first time so please help us raise fund to support our Associates Leadership Programme, which is a year-long, leadership and professional development programme for a group of 8 individuals, all of whom are or have been homeless. It is the first of its kind in history and offers tailored practical and emotional support to each new member developing their artistic practice.
We need to raise at least £20,000 in online donations to unlock our Big Give match funding, taking us to our target of £40,000. Any donations over and above this will be hugely appreciated too and can be made via our Big Give platform or directly to Arts & Homelessness International via your preferred method.
Nailah Muhammad 2023-2024 AHI Associate’s feedback
‘AHI’s Associate’s Leadership programme is a unique space, a beautiful example of co-production. This is the first time I have been encouraged to be my true self. This is the first time I have felt that my imagination and creative talents are my biggest asset. I am amazed by the level of talent within my cohort and AHI’s network. We are not treated as if we are passive recipients of a service. We have been pushed to step out of our comfort zones. I have been inspired to tell my story with pride and become the person I envision in my mind. I am honoured to be a part of a cohort of young women who represent that homelessness does not mean hopelessness.’
Bryony Attenburrow’s 2023-2024 AHI Associate’s feedback
‘There is no other programme as good as this. I experienced homeless after becoming disabled in my early 30s. Most other programmes out there have an age cap of 30 which left me with very limited to opportunities to re-develop my career. I was so used to being thought of as useless I had lost all my confidence and was incredibly isolated. After the first contact with AHI and the programme I felt I was there because I had something to offer and they have continued to build on developing that in me. The other Associates are so incredibly talented and unbelievably smart. Being in a group with people who have shared experiences has been one of the most powerful things I have experienced. I am in awe of AHI for understanding the need for this programme and delivering it in a way that truly makes a difference for artists who have experienced homelessness.’
