About ‘Radical’ Co-Creation Training

Historically, social justice support has been top-down. Too often, organisations in the sector are run by people who don’t have lived experience making decisions ‘on behalf’ of those who do.

At AHI, we are a co-created organisation and half of our board and staff has experience of homelessness. The Charity Commission has granted us permission to pay Trustees with lived experience.

We are still learning how to embed co-creation into everything we do so our training reflects this openness to the mistakes we have made and how we’ve learnt from them. We have trained a number of organisations and groups in the homelessness sector, social justice sector and wider corporate sector including National Adult Safeguarding Board, Culture Health and Wellbeing Alliance, Arts and Social Outcomes Network and, soon with advertising agency, Widen and Kennedy.

The training can be from 1 hour to a full day or longer and consists of topics such as:

  • The difference between consultation and co-production
  • What is ‘Radical Co-Creation’
  • 10 cultural and 10 practical shifts a project should embed in order to develop co-creation
  • Culture change within an organisation
  • Giving away power to create power
  • The 3 stages of good co-creation: Before, during and afterwards
  • 10-steps we followed which resulted in the Charity Commission giving us permission to pay Trustees
